Family Time: "Cherish"

Here is my "official" painting that I am using to participate in Conny's "Mix It Monthly" Challenge

I painted "Love One Another" the other day, and Conny thought that it was a good match for her October challenge.

So, I used it.  But then, I wanted to challenge myself specifically for her challenge.  So, I came up with today's painting:  "Family Time:  Cherish".

The three main colors to use for this challenge were:  Blue, Orange, and Yellow.  And the main theme is "Texture", plus adding two or more people to the painting.

So, since I LOVE fabric... I used all fabric and thread as my texture pieces for the background.

Here is a before photo:

And here is the final result one more time:

What do you think?  Does this painting capture the precious moments of family time?

 *****

So after I posted this painting, I asked my husband what he thought... he said "Since it is "Family Time", shouldn't you add a duckling??"

Great Idea Honey!  Thank you ...

Now it is "Family Time" all way around!

Happy Painting!  Cheers!  and... Break a Bristle.

Joan

  1. This is terrific, I do like your idea of a textured textile background, it works very well. I was just thinking the same thing as your husband as I read down your blogpost, I was wondering where the ducklings were. It's a lovely picture of contentment.

  2. Love this Joan! Thanks so much for showing us the before... love seeing that, and how it comes all together. I love this, because it takes me back to my childhood. When I was young, we lived in Denver. And we spent many summer days at Sloan's Lake feeding the ducks. Sometimes we would take a bucket of KFC. :) (kind of morbid if you think of it huh, feeding ducks and eating chicken.) ha ha ha, No, we did not feed the ducks chicken, only bread. ;)
