26 Acts of Kindness was started by Ann Curry of NBC News, as a way to honor the 26 that were taken from Sandy Hook Elementary. However, I would like to think that in addition to honoring those from Sandy Hook Elementary, 26 Acts of Kindness is a nice way to honor all life that has been taken due to wrongful gun violence and for that matter wrongful violence in general. So help spread the word - help Kindness prevail. As Ann Curry said: "Are You In?"
Read all about it on Facebook and NBC News:
And remember - no matter what you do... big or small, Kindness will truly help us all.
P.S. (you ask?? what are my acts of kindness??, well... I have completed three so far and here they are:
I just learned of 26 Acts of Kindess last night. I looked at my current pet products inventory and filled a medium flat rate box with dog collars and cat collars and anomously mailed them to a local pet rescue explaining the whole 26 Acts of Kindness mission.
My second act of kindness was to give $$ to a Grandmother and her five year old Granddaughter so they could go toy shopping together.
My third act of kindness was to fill several paper grocery bags with a variety of nicely used winter clothing as well as a variety of nicely used household items that I will take to our local Senior Center tomorrow so that they can sell the items at their Thrift Shop and all money they receive from my donated items will be used to help support all their wonderful efforts in helping local Senior Citizens in our area

Alisa Burke is one of my all time favorite Online Instructors. I just love her teaching style as well as her Art. This "Be Yourself Different is Beautiful" painting is from taking her "Art of Abstraction" online class. So many people love to read a variety of subjects, I enjoy many styles of Art. Making this abstract painting was really fun. It is all about layering. I stopped at three layers. On my next one, I would love to just keep on going to see how many layers I can get! Wish me luck.

A close up view:
The Trodden Path. They offer several FREE online art classes in addition to classes that you pay for. The name of this class is: Ten Textures & A Folk Art Tree. It is taught by Jane DesRosier. She is also the creator of The Trodden Path.
Being very new to art, I didn't realize you can add a variety of textures to backgrounds and this class covers every step of the way!
Until Next Time,
P.S. I am very proud of myself. I am not very computer savvy, and I usually default by getting help from my daughter on the simple tasks of photo editing, resizing and such. However, I have decided that I need to be a big girl and do these simple tasks for myself. I am teaching myself how to use Picasa, and to my surprise -- I did it!! Here is a photo cropped, resized, and enhanced color changing: Not bad for a beginner if I do say so myself. Oh, plus I added a watermark, too.

I have never painted on a black background before, and I really like the colors that show up. Here is a close up to view all the neat textures that appeared:
I am having fun taking different online art classes. Just love it when I can find the FREE ones, too!
